Other participants at the cricket camp included UWI Open Campus students from the Eastern Caribbean, who will participate in The UWI Student Games this summer.

Friday, 21 April 2017 – The University of the West Indies (The UWI) has noted, with surprise, the announcement made by Trinidad & Tobago’s Minister of Education, Mr. Anthony Garcia at a post-Cabinet media briefing earlier today, on the subject of the appointment of a new UWI Chancellor.
The University Administration wishes to take this opportunity to indicate that Chancellors are appointed in accordance with the University’s Statute 4 which clearly states, “The Chancellor shall be appointed by the University Council.”

March 24, 2017: On Thursday, March 16, 2017, Dr. Luz Longsworth was inducted as the third Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal of The University of the West Indies (The UWI) Open Campus. The induction ceremony took place in Belize, where Dr. Longsworth is a naturalised citizen, having served in the country through various capacities in academia and business.
With nearly 50 locations across the Caribbean, the UWI Open Campus, assists the University with providing virtual and physical access to accredited programmes, courses and other support services to students wherever they are.
