UWI Open Campus Mobilises Hurricane Relief for Hard-Hit Sites in Dominica, Tortola (BVI) and Anguilla

Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Tuesday, October 10, 2017.   Recovery and disaster relief efforts are well underway at the University of the West Indies Open Campus Country Sites in Dominica, Anguilla and Tortola in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The Site in Dominica was the hardest-hit with 90% of the physical facility severely damaged and a near total loss of equipment.

The UWI and CDEMA to Establish Caribbean Emergency Management Association in New York

The UWI Regional Headquarters Jamaica. 25 September 2017— The Caribbean Centre For Disaster And Risk Reduction located in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor at The University of the West Indies (The UWI) and The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) have agreed to leverage The UWI’s North American networks, in order to mobilise resources in North America for disaster relief and construction within the Caribbean.

Portia Simpson Miller to receive Honorary Degree from The UWI

The UWI Regional Headquarters, Jamaica. 21 September 2017 – On Saturday, September 30, 2017, The University of the West Indies (The UWI) will hold a special convocation to confer the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) on the Most Honourable Portia Lucretia Simpson Miller, ON, former Prime Minister of Jamaica. The ceremony will take place at the Assembly Hall, The UWI Mona Campus in Jamaica.
