Headen Completes Training at Sandals Regency Golf Resort and Spa
The Open Campus Saint Lucia is well known for its pristine lawns, well clipped hedges and overall pleasant ambience. Less well known is that nestled at the back of the campus is a virtual “Garden of Eden” overflowing with a variety of fruit and vegetables rivalled only by the Castries Market itself. Whether cucumbers, okras, papayas, sorrel, pumpkins, ground provisions or a variety of herbs and seasonings, there is always something healthy and delicious on offer from the site's very own backyard garden.
Largely responsible for this is Mr Headen Lionel, affectionately known by all as “Dan” who previously held the post of Assistant Groundsman and was appointed as Caretaker / Groundsman of the OC Saint Lucia site November 2013.
Dan bearing the fruits of his labour
Headen’s skills were recently sharpened by a three month long stint spent at The Sandals Regency Golf Resort and Spa, where he received training for three days a week on the art of landscaping and the general upkeep of grounds.
Praised as an exemplary trainee by his Supervisor, Dan successfully completed his training in November 2014 and immediately began implementing the additional skills and knowledge gained.

Staff of the site are often the beneficiaries of Headen’s green fingers, frequently enjoying tasty one-pot meals cooked mostly with produce grown in our very own garden. Headen follows in the footsteps of retired Caretaker/Groundsman, Mr Vincent Alphonse who also received training from Sandals in the past.
We are very proud of you Dan!
