EDITORIAL
The joint Editors of this volume have the distinct privilege of being able to comment based on lived experience of the theme: both journeyed through
student success from recruitment to graduation at the UWI. This “lived experience” in many ways validates the value added components of the University’s programming.
In this volume, several contributors present a triangulated set of perspectives on key areas of the students’ journey. At times, there are clear indications that the University embraces best practice in its approach to facilitating and promoting student success. Contributors chronicle several journeys, many of which were
also refer to the several challenges that The University faces in ensuring student success, from recruitment to graduation.
Apart from the submitted contributions, the QAU also took to the streets of the campuses and compiled an article that re ects cross campus views on our theme. Students and other contributors of the Open Campus have added that critical element that speaks to the peculiarities and customisations that are essential to promoting and facilitating student success in the online and multi-mode environment. As you would expect, our students are generous where praise is due and very frank about where The University can affect constructive changes

not easy, that have resulted in their developing most, if not all, of the attributes of the University’s ideal graduate. These articles are testimony that The University must continue on its trajectory for continuous improvement and focused student support.
In every instance, however, there is a lesson to be learnt. The contributions of the PVCs for BUS and BGSR speak to the importance of an approach that sees student success as pivotal to the survival of the University. Student success is deemed a vital, active pursuit by the University, rather than simply a passive result. Indeed, readers will want to see just how many articles
towards continuous quality enhancement.
This issue sees a fun innovation that nonetheless emphasises how this theme links closely with Quality Management at The University of the West Indies. Students who participate in our QC 19 Word Quiz have the opportunity to win attractive prizes, one allocated to each campus.
