Alumni are key members and stakeholders of The UWI family and can assist with Quality implementation and maintenance and I am pleased to advise that I am already in discussions with PVC Cobley, Dr. Kay Thompson and the rest of the Quality Assurance Unit about ways alumni can be involved to assist in the monitoring and evaluation of Quality across the institution as this will be a continuous process.
There is a high cost to losing alumni - potential loss of revenue from graduates not considering UWI for professional courses or higher degrees; loss of employment by graduates who, because of their negative experience, do not seek to hire UWI graduates; loss of free “word of mouth advertising” by satisfied graduates; loss of potential donors or sponsors ... and the list goes on.
So, let us remember, ALL UWI campus administrative and academic faculty and staff contribute to the QUALITY of the student experience and, thereby, influence whether students become engaged graduates.
