Introduction

This CPE Certificate in Facilities Management (FM) is a 120 contact hour programme geared towards equipping individuals with the foundation knowledge, skills and competencies required to effectively manage the diversity and growth of each organization. With the provision of practical insight and functional knowledge of the practice of Facilities Management and its core principles, the programme seeks to provide individuals with an understanding of this diverse field through a series of courses focusing on enhancing their skill set. 

Who is this programme for?

This programme in Facilities Management is intended for managers new to Facilities Management or those looking to broaden their understanding of the professional Facilities Management practice. It will also benefit those working in related areas that may come into contact with facilities management functions, and individuals considering moving into the field as a career change. 

Programme Structure

The programme consists of four courses. These may be taken together for the completion of the Certificate or participants can complete any course for the award of the Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

  • Change Management

Entry Requirements

Although there are no specific pre-requisites, participants should have a good command of the English Language.   Kindly contact an Open Campus Site location nearest to you for information on the application process.  

Assessment Structure

A model of continuous in-course assessment will be applied to all courses within this programme. Students will be assessed at different intervals over the duration of each course which may include written examinations. Assignments may also include but are not limited to: case-based activities, practical assignments, presentations and other projects.

Introduction to Facilities Management

This course allows participants to study the FM range, offering the latest thinking in the profession. It confronts head on the practical problems encountered on the ground and offers real solutions. Various issues are explored to benefit those new to FM or those looking to broaden their understanding of professional FM practice.

Maintenance Management

This course allows participants to study the maintenance range allowing them insight to acquire knowledge and skills to improve the maintenance function within a cross section of different organizations.

Sustainability in Facilities Management

This course shall provide an understanding of the concepts associated with sustainability, and its relevance to FM with a particular focus on energy management and environmental management in practice.

Facilities Change Management

In FM, change can include major office and departmental moves, the introduction of new systems, change of contractors, staffing and other resource shifts. This course seeks to present students with the knowledge and understanding of change and how to manage this process effectively.
