With the re-start of major international sporting competitions, coupled with televised sport events filling the entertainment void created by the Covid-19 restrictions, there is likely to be an increased demand for additional technical support to produce live sport events and other sport entertainment programmes. The proposed training also fulfills the Faculty of Sport’s strategic goal to contribute to global sport development, earn revenue and provide access by diversifying sport training

The Sport Leadership and Management programme aims to build the competence of participants in the areas of sport administration as well as develop the skill sets necessary to allow them to lead the development of sport within the framework of their respective environments.

This programme does not replace any existing programme. It is being offered to those interested in sports and movement science. It will introduce coaches, athletes, sports scientists and sports enthusiasts to the science behind movement and high athletic performance This programme will provide the foundation for those wishing to become Biomechanists, Sports Nutritionists, Sports Physiologists and experts in athletic training across the lifespan. The programme will also expose persons to other emerging fields associated with sports and movement science.
The programme will offer basics for coaches in Sports in general. Functional Anatomy and relevant Physiology for coaches will form the basis for their learning of more applied aspects like Sports Nutrition and Biomechanics. Origins and Growth of Modern Sport 1850 - 1946 and Sports Ethics should root them in the local culture and practice. Communication in the Workplace and Statistics should empower them to deal with players and the media.
The Caribbean is experiencing an increase in interest and growth in the development and delivery of online and distance educational programmes at the tertiary level. The Teaching and Learning with Emerging Technologies (TLET) programme is focused on the distinctiveness of the Caribbean region and is designed around needs particular to the region such as – human resource, geographical factors and technology dynamics.
